About the cemetery

Character and history

Former cemetery complex, now a park containing consolidated war graves. Regular burial operations ended in 1970.

From 1888, four church cemeteries developed here: Neuer Johannisfriedhof, Kaiser-Friedrich, Heiland and Neuer St Paul. The grounds closed at the end of 1970, and the last plot rights expired in 1995. Conversion to a park began in 2001. War graves were consolidated on the former New St Paul grounds in 2014. The mapped present-day war-grave area is consequently smaller than the historic cemetery complex.
